Glasses on the run Newsletter #32
Hi,
I hope you are all well and I hope you enjoy the short selection of stories below.
What was interesting in the business of running
Starting with the main event of the last couple of weeks - the UTMB.
- Jim Walmsley was the first American to win the men's race, while Courtney Dauwalter, also from the US, won her third UTMB in the women's race. A lot of interesting coverage of the race and the results here, here and here.
- And if you, like me, wonder how does someone prepare for a 171 km race with close to 10,000 m elevation gain, here is a Strava data analysis of how 2022 UTMB runners prepared for the race.
In another highly anticipated (and very different) event, Apple's annual event is tomorrow - 12th September. Alongside the new iPhone 15, here is a summary of the expectations for updates of the Apple Watch and the Apple Watch Ultra.
On a different topic, Fitbit and its owner Google face three new complaints about how they capture user consent and then process personal data. Here is an explainer on how Fitbit and Google handle health data.
And finally, another Strava integration - or rather an enhancement of an existing one. This time with Kinomap, which will allow users of both products to upload video previews replacing the previously generated static image.
As always, thank you for reading,
Momchil
